On July 21st, 2021, The Alberta Métis Federation and the Manitoba Métis Federation made history by uniting in the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on behalf of their respective communities. The Willow Lake Métis Nation are proud to have joined our fellow grassroots Métis communities as co-signatories to this historic agreement.
This monumental agreement demonstrates a willingness to work together in the spirt of nation-building and, as part of the historic Métis Nation, as kin and as neighbours, to establish a relationship for cooperation to protect our Nation and to benefit our Métis citizens.
The Alberta Métis Federation was created out of the belief that Métis people in Alberta can be effectively represented by grassroots leadership committed to accountability, transparency, and community engagement.
Willow Lake Métis Nation remains steadfast in our commitment to effectively represent and advocate for the rights of our people, creating generational prosperity, and ensuring cultural preservation and awareness. We can best achieve these outcomes through uniting with like-minded, grassroots organizations such as the Manitoba Métis Federation.
Willow Lake Métis Nation looks forward to further developing this relationship grounded in common understanding and good faith, honouring Métis Veterans, Elders, families, and future generations.
